Today the wellbeing and mental health of people at work is getting greater attention. We all have times when life gets on top of us and sometimes it can be work-related. Creating a positive, mentally healthy work environment is a win for everyone - employees, contractors, managers, and employers.
Wellness Action Plans (WAPs) are for practical tools for anyone who works. Each person’s plan is personalised for them, by them. It helps them keep aware of their how their mental health and wellbeing is doing while they’re at work. It assists them to think about what keeps them well, how they know when stress is building too high or if they’re becoming unwell, and what action steps they can take to get things back into better balance.
A WAP is a personal and confidential document. It’s written by employees and privately shared with their manager or employer. Employees choose to share as much or as little as they want to. The plan helps the employee and manager to agree on how the manager could offer effective support early on if any mental health or wellbeing issues should arise.
